There seem to be two distinct types of Palm Reading – one which has more of a Romany feel to it, and Chinese Hand Analysis which was developed in China several thousand years ago. The first type is more of a fortune telling tool and indicator of past events, while the Chinese palm reading is primarily about the personality of the individual. 

In both forms of Palm Reading the information is gleaned from the lines and marks on the palms of your hands as well as your fingers and thumbs. As you start reading a hand it becomes quite clear how different everyones hands are, with lines varying to an astonishing degree. Lines and markings on the palm of your hand can also change throughout your life. It can be quite simple to tell when there’s been a major change to the diet for example. I once noticed that someone’s Life Line (or Earth Line) changed texture from deep and vague to sharp and clear. It was at this point in their life they changed diet because they’d been diagnosed with cancer. I’m happy to say she was in complete remission at the time!

In Chinese Hand Analysis the shape if the hand and the texture of the skin is also taken into consideration with everything being divided up into the four elements of air, earth, fire and water. Every little whorl on your hand also has its own meaning. With both forms of reading it’s fascinating to discover the amount of information which is revealed.
